Makhdot – Daughter of the Moon. The main goal of this project was to experiment with body ornamentation using a raised gold overlay. I was inspired in part by African scarification practices that produce dramatic keloidal scars on the body. The ornamental effect can be very striking, but I imagine they are quite painful to acquire.
Materials:
24 karat gold raised ceramic overlay ornament is fused into porcelain throughout several firings. Jewelry is 24 karat gold plated accented with Rubies, Garnets and Tourmalines. Veil and skirt are silk muslin, Swarovski crystals, cubic zirconia. Porcelain, china, mohair, industrial springs, leather. 13.5” (34.5cm) tall.
